Teaching
I strive to design innovative courses in which students do – rather than just learn – philosophy. As an educator, I aim to distribute the location of knowledge and authority in the classroom, and provide all students with opportunities to express their agency, practice new skills, and cultivate philosophical ideas. I work hard to ensure that my courses are accountable to the perspectives and interests of my students, most of whom have belonged to identity groups that continue to be marginalized in the discipline. I have also collaborated on a number of projects designed to promote justice in the academy, including as a chapter organizer of Minorities and Philosophy (MAP), a member of departmental service organizations, and a Writing Across the Curriculum Fellow at Lehman College (CUNY). In Spring 2024, I received the Weissman Excellence Award in Teaching for a Part-Time Faculty Member in the Baruch College School of Arts and Sciences, and in 2025, I was nominated by students for the Foundational Studies Excellence in Instruction Award at Indiana State. You can find information on my courses below, and more about these experiences on my CV.

Course Evaluations
At this link, you can find an overview of my anonymous student course evaluations.
“Learning about philosophy has opened my eyes. I knew nothing about it which I shared with Professor Peck but she was very gentle and kind which encouraged me to keep trying. I ended up enjoying writing for the first time.” (submitted anonymously by a student, Indiana State University, Summer 2025)
“Professor P is probably my favorite professor I've ever had. She is extremely understanding and knows how to connect with students. She also is good at applying our lesson or discussion to real-life situations that could relate to college students. I really like the way she teaches her class and how she is able to engage everyone.” (submitted anonymously by a student, ISU, Fall 2024)
“Professor Peck allotted and prioritized a safe space for diverse perspectives and thoughtful, intellectual discussion.” (submitted anonymously by a student, ISU, Fall 2024)
“Never underestimate the impact that your devotion and diligence to the class have on your students…keep doing what you are doing and I promise you that there are lives being changes and destiny being direct [sic] by the way you teach your class.” (submitted anonymously by a student, ISU, Spring 2025)
“Professor Peck has had a profound impact on my love for Philosophy. Unlike other philosophy professors, she brings a wide variety of texts to class that really make us think and engage with the material. What sets her apart is that she actually encourages us to challenge those texts and support our own original ideas. In her class, I've seen myself become a better writer because she creates an environment where it's okay to make mistakes and learn from them. It's not just about showing off what we already know; she focuses on helping us develop real skills. Her teaching approach takes away the stress of grades and instead emphasizes critical analysis and group discussions. It's been an amazing experience that has truly transformed how I approach Philosophy. Professor Peck's teaching philosophy enables me to perceive writing as a journey of skill development rather than a mere showcase of pre-existing knowledge. Professor Peck's approach goes beyond conventional teaching methods. Under her guidance, our class underwent a remarkable transformation, evolving into a close-knit community of critical thinkers who fearlessly delve into the depths of philosophical ideas. Her skill in nurturing intellectual development and instilling a deep love for the subject is a testament to her teaching expertise, setting a high standard for excellence in philosophy.” (submitted anonymously by a student, Baruch College, Spring 2023)
